A couple years back my friend Brett and I made this piece of music for my nephew Kendall's music therapy sessions. He had slipped into a post-biopsy coma following a swift diagnosis with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma). Being the particularly nasty form of brain cancer that it is, I'm just thankful Kendall never really woke up.
We eventually whittled it down from its original length and put it on "In Our Bones". As he was diagnosed the day we began tracking and passed on the day of our final mixing session, it felt right to include it on the LP.
As I thought about him this morning, I realized we had never offered any sort of explanation to the one instrumental track on a rather lyrical record and that we had never put out the original 11 minute version as planned.
So here it is...
